The aim was to merge the two original travel centres of Berlin Central Station into one large travel centre. The new travel centre was to combine different functional areas in a clear and customer-friendly way. The planning envisaged light and friendly materials that harmonise with the corporate design colours of Deutsche Bahn AG.

Due to the location underneath the track bridges of the mainline railway, large movements of the building structures and high building physics and room acoustics requirements had to be taken into account. For the implementation, several rental units were exchanged, which were completely gutted in the course of this, operated as a temporary solution at another location and finally rebuilt at the intended location.

The innovative new travel centre is highly frequented and very well received by customers.
