Hackescher Markt Station is undergoing a comprehensive fire protection and infrastructure upgrade aimed at securing the long-term future of the listed building while maintaining uninterrupted railway operations. The project includes the implementation of compliant fire safety structures as well as the renewal of key technical systems, including fire detection and public address systems, sprinkler installations, ventilation and smoke extraction systems, and an independent backup power supply. Lighting, wayfinding and technical infrastructure are also being modernised. A further focus lies on improving operational reliability and preparing the station for future uses. The planning integrates complex requirements relating to heritage protection, construction sequencing, energy supply and stormwater management, including a new retention basin below ground level. The overall objective is to deliver the works with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
