Facts

As part of the “Zukunft Bahn” project, the six historic stations of the Berlin North-South S-Bahntunnel – Nordbahnhof, Anhalter Bahnhof, Brandenburger Tor, Friedrichstrasse, Potsdamer Platz and Oranienburger Straße – have been designed more customer-friendly. The aim of the conversions for each station was to make the historical development of the respective S-Bahn station visible and experienced for passengers.

Together with interior designer Karin Götz, the actual situation of the stations was examined and a concept for the restoration was developed taking into account the history / structural substance of the stations. The visual design and exhibition concept for historical and topographic staging was carried out by the Berlin-based design and retail agency beMATES.

Through various restoration and staging measures, the stations were visually upgraded and the exhibitions created places that could be experienced.
