Facts

The arch numbers 65-67 inside Berlin-Jannowitzbrücke S-Bahn station were previously used as a sports bar and later as a nightclub. The space was converted into office use with an event space and workshop area.

The existing gallery serves as the main access and offers an outstanding view over the river Spree. Meeting and ancillary rooms were arranged underneath the gallery. Workstations and "ThinkTanks" as retreat rooms are located in the front open area. During the refurbishment, challenging acoustic conditions and low ceiling heights in the ancillary areas required intensive planning work.

Contrast between old and new, and the spatial effect between the large glazed, high-ceiling rooms overlooking the water and the more enclosed meeting and retreat rooms has created a flexible, usable, and representative space for Deutsche Bahn AG's "mindlab".
